Bathroom Décor: Our Designers’ Favourite Summer Bathroom Trends
There’s something about summer that makes us want to refresh our spaces, embrace the light, and play with colour in a bolder way. At Ripples, our designers are seeing clients embrace personality-packed bathrooms more than ever, filled with warmth, character and creative flair.
We asked some of our expert designers what’s inspiring them this season and how you can bring these fresh ideas into your own home.
Confident Colour & Colour Drenching Emily, Ripples Walton-on-Thames
Right now, I’m loving the use of colour in my designs, it brings impact, personality and emotion to a space. Colour drenching is my go-to technique; painting the walls, ceiling and trim in the same shade creates a bold, immersive feel. I use a similar approach with tiles in the bathroom, often zoning areas with different tile styles or colour combinations to create interest and flow.
Soft blues and terracotta have really caught my eye this year - they’re calming yet rich, soft but full of depth. One tile I keep coming back to is the Cuba Porcelain Marla tile. Its pattern and tones strike that perfect balance between classic charm and modern warmth.
Design tip: If you’re nervous about bold colour, try introducing it through tiles or accessories first. The Cuba Porcelain Marla tile is a perfect example, its pattern blends classic charm with contemporary warmth, making it ideal for feature walls, splashbacks or alcoves.

Stripes with Personality Kerri, Ripples Winchester & Kalli, Ripples Towcester
Stripes have made a triumphant return and not just in fashion. For Kerri and Kalli, striped designs are adding a sense of joy, movement and vibrancy to the bathroom.
“Whether in ceramics, textiles or tiles, colourful stripes instantly lift a space,” says Kerri. “They feel fresh and playful, perfect for summer.”
Kalli takes it further with striped tiling: vertical for height, horizontal for width, diagonal for a dynamic twist.
“Stripes are such an easy way to make a bathroom feel more energetic and unique. They’re a great stepping stone for those looking to introduce more colour without overwhelming the space.”
Design tip: Try striped tiling in a shower enclosure or behind a freestanding bath to create a striking feature wall. Opt for glazed finishes for added light reflection, or matte for a more subdued look. Pair with clean-lined brassware to balance the boldness.

Curves & Arches James, Ripples Wokingham
Straight lines can sometimes feel a bit harsh - I find that curves really help soften a space and instantly give it a more luxurious feel.
From arched mirrors to curved cabinetry and fluted basins, I’ve definitely noticed the design world falling back in love with organic shapes – and bathrooms are no exception. I’m particularly drawn to Ca’ Pietra’s Savoy Novo Mosaic, which features an elegant arch motif and can even be used on curved walls.
I love finding opportunities to incorporate arches, whether it’s through tiled recesses, bespoke furniture, or even walk-in showers with rounded glass screens. They feel so timeless and architectural.
Design tip: Don’t have room for a curved wall? No problem. Try adding curved accents in your lighting, mirror, or vanity design. These details go a long way in softening the space and making it feel effortlessly elegant.
