The owner of this home in Harpenden wanted to inject fun and vibrancy into her downstairs cloakroom and to create a space which reflects her personality. As a fashion stylist, colour and pattern were important parts of the brief for this client who was also keen to include a number of trend-led products within the scheme.

The existing focal point of the room is the porthole window at the far end, so this was the obvious choice to position the basin area. A deep round basin was chosen to mirror the shape of the window and create synergy within this space, whilst pastel pink metro tiles frame the area and create the sense of fun the client was hoping to achieve. The gold tile trim pairs beautifully with the brushed gold basin mixer and is continued around the floor tiles to create a cohesive scheme. The client opted for on-trend terrazzo tiles on the floor, incorporating one of her favourite patterns and tying together the pink, grey and gold tones used throughout the rest of the room. This part of the cloakroom is completed with a slate grey wall-hung vanity unit which adds depth to the space and provides ample storage.

Elsewhere in the room, a large wall-hung radiator was chosen to provide plenty of space to warm guest hand towels and heat the room. The introduction of matt black here provides a contrast with the sugary pink tiles and is also incorporated through accessories such as the black shelf, photo frame and flush plate. The wall-hung WC continues is in-keeping with the modern aesthetic and makes the room feel bigger by opening up space on the floor.
