Ripples radar: Bringing heritage to the home

Explore the beauty of treasured British properties and landscapes in your home with The National Trust Tile Collection by Sarsen Stone Group.

From arboretums to abbeys, coastlines to castles, The National Trust Tile Collection celebrates all that is great about this beloved British institution. With each and every tile, you’ll step into one of the National Trust’s historic houses or be transported to the scenery that surrounds it, with inspiration drawn from the décor, architecture, flora and fauna of 16 National Trust locations.

We’ve handpicked a few of our favourites from the collection...

1 | Shoreline

A rectangular ceramic tile with a handmade effect and contemporary glazed finish, Shoreline is inspired by the 780 miles of coastline which is cared for by the National Trust, including the UNESCO World Heritage Sites of the Giant’s Causeway and land at the White Cliffs of Dover.

Available in seven soft, subtle shades, the 10 x 20cm tiles combine a glazed finish with a rustic, handcrafted effect.

“A tile from the National Trust collection is an investment in its heritage in more ways than one. A portion of the sales from this collection will be donated to the National Trust, to help it continue to care for nature, beauty and history for everyone, forever.

| Lyme

Inspired by Lyme on the periphery of the Peak District, this tile has a depth of colour achieved by using a translucent glaze that pools and puddles across the tile’s surface, known as puddle glazing.

Available in four heritage tones, Antique White, Emerald Green, Olive Green and Peacock Blue, Lyme blends the classic character of the metro tile with a premium puddle glaze.

Style tip: Create a feature wall or splashback or an attractive dado design around all four walls for instant impact.

3 | Alfriston Clergy

Influenced by the stunning National Trust property Alfriston Clergy House, Alfriston Clergy is a traditional repeat pattern tile inspired by an oak leaf carving found on a beam within this medieval house. It is this oak leaf, which can still be seen today, that inspired the National Trust logo.

Printed in Stoke-on-Trent, this wallpaper-style tile is ideal for feature walls and splashbacks. The collection combines a satin base with a gloss screen print, creating a lovely tactile finish.

Style tip: In period properties this style looks effortlessly chic in a bathroom complete with a colourful or crisp white roll-top cast iron tub with claw feet and a freestanding vanity unit with countertop basin.

4 | Moseley

A pretty porcelain tile, Moseley is inspired by Moseley Old Hall’s Tudor Knot Garden and it’s this striking repeat pattern that makes it the perfect tile for splashbacks, feature areas and full wall cladding in shower areas.

Available in three subdued shades, the 10 x 20cm tiles Suitable for interior and exterior walls and floors.

5 | Woodland Glade

Influenced by the seasonal flora of the breathtaking Winkworth Arboretum near Godalming in Surrey, the Woodland Glade collection is a stunning selection of botanical printed tiles in an on-trend hexagonal design. With nine different patterns and a soft, tonal nature-themed palette, each 21.5 x 24.5cm hexagon comes as part of a pre-made, mixed pattern to be used on both walls and floors.

Style tip: The pink and green hues work wonderfully with accents of blush and neutral hints while matt black fixtures and fittings bring an industrial edge to any space.
