Gallery: Basement shower room with bubblegum-coloured concrete basin

This jewel-toned cloakroom proves that small spaces can still pack a serious design punch. Created for a stylish home in North West London, this bathroom is a masterclass in balancing rich colour, playful detailing and clever spatial planning.

The client wanted a compact but impactful space for guests - something visually striking yet beautifully considered. The bold plum-painted walls and ceiling set the tone for the design, creating a dramatic cocoon-like backdrop. Against this, pink and burgundy patterned tiles inject instant personality, wrapping around the shower enclosure and tying in perfectly with the statement sanitaryware.

To make the most of the layout, our designer opted for a walk-in shower with a sleek glass screen, giving the illusion of more space without interrupting the view of the pretty tiles. The soft mint herringbone flooring provides a refreshing contrast to the warm tones above and adds a subtle sense of movement underfoot.

Despite having no natural light, this bathroom feels anything but dark or enclosed. Instead of fighting the absence of windows, the design leans into it - embracing deep, saturated colour to create a rich, cocooning atmosphere. The plum-toned walls and ceiling wrap the room in warmth, while the soft pink tones of the tiles and basin help to lift and balance the space. A carefully positioned wall light above the mirror provides a flattering, ambient glow, ensuring the room still feels inviting and functional.

A standout feature is the compact basin - custom cast in bubblegum pink concrete. Its curved form and integrated shelf make it ideal for small spaces, while the wall-mounted tap keeps the design feeling streamlined. Above, a monochrome striped mirror adds a fun, unexpected twist, echoing the client’s love for statement accessories.

Though small in footprint, this basement bathroom feels luxurious and layered thanks to the careful use of texture, tone and contrast. From the reflective Polished Nickel fixtures to the tactile tile finishes, each element was chosen to enhance both functionality and atmosphere.

The end result is a bold yet balanced space that feels confident, curated, and utterly unique.
