What were the most important considerations for you when you started your bathroom and cloakroom project?

“For the bathroom, we really wanted to be able to find a layout that would allow a bath and separate shower, a decent amount of storage for all my products and space to fit a boiler that we couldn’t fit downstairs in our kitchen. I wanted the bathroom to feel modern and clean, and I’d been inspired by the greys and matte blacks I’d seen in a hotel room in Brooklyn. A practical bathroom was also important for us, which is why we moved away from the freestanding bath that was in there before and went for something that made more sense in the space that we had (and a space that we knew we’d have kids in).”

"For the cloakroom, I wanted it to be more fun, but we also had the challenge to fit in a washing machine and tumble dryer into a very small space. Adding a shelf above the toilet in both spaces meant we can add our own personality to the space with styling pieces and it was definitely something I wanted to work into the design.”

How did Ripples help you with the process?

“Our designer helped bring the many ideas and colours I had in my head to life, advising us on which surfaces, brassware and tiles to go for depending on how high or low maintenance we wanted them to be. We had back and forth chats about every detail and I really felt like she understood what I was aiming for and she was so patient, even if I changed my mind a few times along the way.“

What is your favourite thing about your bathroom?

“I love having the recess both above the bath and in the shower as it’s the perfect place to put your products and to display them nicely. But my favourite has to be the mirrored cabinets, which hold a huge amount of products, and has a designated charging point, which comes in so handy! We recessed it into the wall, which looks really smart against the white tiles."
